NREA Youth Energy Camp
Two area youth represent Midwest Electric at annual NREA Youth Energy Camp, July 10-14, 2017
The camp is facilitated by the Nebraska Rural Electric Association and is sponsored by Midwest Electric and other member electric systems in Nebraska and Wyoming.
The Youth Energy Camp for 2017 was held at the State 4-H Camp in Halsey National Forest, near Halsey, Nebraska, the week of July 10 - 14, 2017.
Special presentations and tours highlighted at the camp included tours of two Nebraska electric generating plants, the Gerald Gentlemen Power Station near Sutherland, Nebraska, and the Kingsley Hydro-Electric Power Plant near Ogallala, Nebraska.
The popular 5 day camp is set up to give young people a better understanding of the legislative process, hands-on classes about energy efficiency, electric safety, electric power generation and the rural electric programs in Nebraska.
Recreational activities included basketball, volleyball, swimming and canoeing down the Middle Loup River.
